Trunyan Tour

Visit the Bali Aga village while you are in Kintamani. You can reach the village by catching a boat from Toya Devasya. Trunyan has a unique burial tradition that is cannot be found in other parts of Bali. The cemetery is isolated from the village where villagers would need a canoe to bring the corpse to the cemetery. Corpses or the dead bodies are not buried or cremated but instead put on the ground covered by light cloth and placed under the bamboo huts. Oddly it does not smell. It is believed the smell is absorbed by a big tree named as the Taru Menyan tree.
